ZUBEEN GARG’S COUSIN ALSO GETS BAIL IN SINGER’S DEATH CASE | 17 October, 2026

Music icon Zubeen Garg’s cousin, suspended Assam DSP Sandipan Garg, was granted bail by the Guwahati high court on October 16 in the singer’s death case. Sandipan is the second in the death case to be granted bail, after singer Amritprava Mahanta. He had been in jail for more than a year.

Seven persons had been arrested and jailed in the conspiracy and murder case pertaining to the singer’s death by drowning in Singapore in September last year. Amritprava Mahanta was granted bail last week. She walked out of prison three days earlier.

Sandipan was charged with culpable homicide not amounting to murder. He was suspended from Assam police on October 8, 2025, coinciding with his arrest after seven days of questioning.
