Released last week in Bengal, Bihar, Assam, C.P. Berar and Mysore, Nishikant Jain, Hallmark Studioz and Sanam Productions’ 3rd Eye (A) is a horror film.
Julie (Sakshi Dwivedi) marries gangster Vijay (Aadesh Chaudhary) despite her father, John D’Costa (Dinesh Kaushik), being against the liaison. Vijay works for Changez Khan (Raj Zutshi). Vijay rents a flat for himÂself and Julie to live in. But the flat is haunted, and soon, Julie is murdered by the spirit of Kirti (Kajal Damania).
Vijay and Julie’s sister, Ana (Drishti Grewal), decide to solve the mystery behind Julie’s death. They are aided by police officer ACP Rajbir (Rushad Rana) and Prof. Thomas (Mukul Dev). Do they solve the mystery? Is the house actually inhabited by Kirti’s ghost?
Sanjay Niranjan’s story and screenplay are hackneyed and, therefore, totally predictable. It is for this reason that the thrill element is minimal. SanÂjay Niranjan’s dialogues are hardly worth talking about.
Aadesh Chaudhary gives an ordiÂnary performance as Vijay. Drishti Grewal is so-so as Ana. Sakshi DwiÂvedi does an average job as Julie. Rushad Rana is quite alright in the role of ACP Rajbir. Mukul Dev leaves his mark as Prof. Thomas. Raj Zutshi is effective as Changez Khan. Kajal Damania’s performance (as Kirti) is nothing to write home about. Dinesh Kaushik (as John D’Costa), Riya Shukla (as Dolly), Kamaal Malik (as police inspector Kadam), Ashish WarÂang (as Bhuteshwar Nath) and Javed Haider (as Munna) lend routine support.
Sanjay Niranjan’s direction is pathetic. Music (Surender Sodhi and Avijit Das) and lyrics (Deepak ChauÂdhary, Priyanka Sharma, Arman Shaikh and Avijit Das) are functional. S. Pappu’s camerwork is commonplace. Kaushal-Moses’ action and stunts are routine. Art direction (by Manohar Patil) is average. Editing (Jitendra Singh) is loose.
On the whole, 3rd Eye is a poor fare all the way.
