CHHAL | 11 May, 2019

Ivana Production’s Chhal (A) is a story about deceit and blackmailing.

Rahul is married to Ragini whom he ill-treats and often beats up. Rahul’s stepmother is Maya who has killed Rahul’s father to usurp his property. But she gets to know that the property is in Rahul’s name. She now wants to kill Rahul. Maya’s biological son is a blackmailer.

Ragini and Vivek meet one day. Soon, Vivek professes his love for Ragini.

What happens thereafter?

Raju Shreshtha’s story is ridiculous and kiddish. Sunny Kapoor’s screenplay is equally weird. Even the dialogues, penned by Sunny Kapoor, are weak.

Prince Siddiqui, Arun Dave and Tamanna Chauhan deliver weak performances. Others lend poor support.

Raju Shreshtha’s direction is terribly weak. Music (Rajesh Dubey) is dull. Lyrics (Krishna Tiwari, M.D. Shahabuddin and Rajesh Nishad) are ordinary. Pradeep Pandit’s background music is functional. Roby Sagar’s camerawork is nothing to shout about. Mohd. Akhtar’s editing is loose.

On the whole, Chhal is a flop fare.

Released on 10-5-’19 at Movie Star (daily 1 show) and another cinema of Bombay thru Akshay Production. Publicity & opening: poor.
