MS Films & Productions’ Chase – No Mercy To Crime (UA) is a crime-action drama.
Shailendra (Punya Prasoon) and his son, Satyendra (Amit Sethi), plan a train robbery and execute it with alarming finesse. A Calcutta police team, headed by Avinash (Sudip Mukherjee), is appointed to bring the culprits to book. Avinash is assisted by Imran (Dipanjjon Basak) and Dipti (Riya Paul).
Suvendu Raj Ghosh’s story is, perhaps, older than the hills. His screenplay is so terrible that it fails to evoke emotions of any kind. Even his dialogues are pedestrian.
Sudip Mukherjee acts well as IPS officer Avinash. Dipanjjon Basak does a fine job as Imran. Riya Paul has performed decently as Dipti. Amit Sethi is effective as Satyendra. Punya Prasoon lends good support in the role of Satyendra’s father, Shailendra. Debdas Paul (as Satyendra’s friend, Lallan) has his moments. Mushtaq Khan leaves a mark as the minister. Gulshan Pandey makes an impression as Paban Pandey. Gargi Patel (as Satyendra’s mother), Sameeksha Gaur (as Guddi) and the others are adequate.
Suvendu Raj Ghosh’s direction is far better than his script. Music (Rohan D. Pathak, Bob SN and Pinaki Bose) and lyrics (Sudhakar Sharma and Rohan D. Pathak) are functional. Sandy and Rahul hardly leave any mark with their choreography. Bob SN’s background music is dull. Arabinda Narayan Dolai’s camerawork is of a good standard. Samar Halder’s art direction is ordinary. Action scenes hardly deserve mention. Raj Singh Sindhu’s editing leaves a lot to be desired.
On the whole, Chase – No Mercy To Crime is a debacle.
