Fujiko Pro, Shogakukan, TV Asahi and Shin-EiAnimation’s Doraemon: Castle Of The Undersea Devil (animation; dubbed from Japanese film Doraemon The Movie: New Nobita And The Castle Of The Undersea Devil) is about the Devil’s Rock Castle which people undersea fear.
Nobita and his friends decide to camp in the middle of the ocean. The gang members enjoy their undersea camping adventure and encounter various creatures. After discovering a sunken ship, they meet a mysterious young man, El, who is an undersea person. He lives in the Mu Federation which spreads under the sea. The undersea people hate the people on land. They have trust issues with Nobita and his friends. Then, they get the news that Devil’s Rock Castle has begun to move. What is this Rock Castle which the undersea people fear? To find out what awaits them, they set off on a great adventure which will determine the fate of the Earth.
Isao Murayama has penned a story and screenplay, which are interesting in parts. While some portions entertain the audience, there are others which seem to stretch.
Performances of the animation characters and their voice acting are good. Tetsuo Yajima’s direction is fair. Editing should’ve been crisper. Dubbing is nice.
On the whole, Doraemon: Castle Of The Undersea Devil is a fair entertainer. It will fare better in English (also released simultaneously).
Released on 2-10-’26 at Inox (daily 2 shows) and other cinemas of Bombay thru PVR Inox Pictures. Publicity & opening: quite good. …….Also released all over. Opening was fairly nice at many places.
