Saveena Creation’s India Pride: Imli – The Archer is the story of a poor Adivasi girl who, by sheer dint of hard work, talent and dedication, becomes a national archery champion. She is trained and guided by a selfless coach.
Swatantra Goel’s story is inspiring but lacks novelty as one has seen similar stories in several earlier films. Goel’s screenplay treads the beaten path and hence fails to offer anything new or fresh to the audience. Swatantra Goel’s dialogues are commonplace.
Prasanna Bisht is so-so as Imli. Vikram Kochhar acts well as the coach. Maan Singh Meena, Ratan Lal, Jyoti, Harshad and Pragya Mishra lend routine support.
Swatantra Goel’s direction is below the mark. Music (Dushyant Dubey and Prodip Kumar) and lyrics (Sanidhya Saawarna, Manoj Ram Prasad R. and Manish Fakira) are functional. Background music is ordinary. Raja Phadtare’s cinematography is fair. Ajay Mandal’s art direction is nothing to dance about. Preetam Naik’s editing should’ve been crisper.
On the whole, India Pride: Imli – The Archer is a flop show.
