Starbeam Ventures Ltd.’s Jeevan Ya Bheema Con? (UA) is the story of lookalikes Jeevan and Bheema. Jeevan (Arshad Warsi) has a life insurance policy for Rs. 1 crore. Bheema (Arshad Warsi), who looks exactly like Jeevan, dies. That’s when Jeevan plots with wife Yojana (Sanjeeda Shaikh) to pocket the insurance claim by holding out to the world and the insurance company that he (Jeevan) had died. In fact, Jeevan and Yojana even double the insured amount after the death of Bheema. According to the plan, Yojana will tell the insurance agent that her husband, Jeevan, had died. Obviously, Jeevan goes underground so that nobody would realise that he is alive. But things get complicated when Vinayak (Vijay Raaz), in search of his associate, Bheema, locates Jeevan instead. Jeevan then tells Vinayak the truth about Bheema and he being lookalikes. Vinayak is on the lookout for Bheema because the latter had run away with his diamonds valued at Rs. 6 crore. Vinayak is convinced that the diamonds are now with Jeevan. Are the diamonds with Jeevan? What happens to the insurance claim? Is Jeevan able to get anything — the insurance claim or the diamonds? What happens to Vinayak, Jeevan and Yojana?
Vivek Verma has written a story which sounds implausible and, therefore, does not involve the audience. Mukta Bhatt, Vivek Verma and Abhishek Dogra have penned a screenplay of complete convenience. Many scenes look forced into the drama just to either evoke laughter or take the proceedings forward. In other words, the drama does not move ahead seamlessly. Many twists and turns look so contrived that the viewers don’t enjoy the drama. Some comedy scenes do evoke laughter, but that’s not enough. Meghvrat Singh and Gurjar Vivek Verma’s dialogues are okay.
Arshad Warsi is alright in a double role as Jeevan and Bheema. Sanjeeda Shaikh looks pretty and acts ably in the role of Yojana. Vijay Raaz is natural as Vinayak. Brijendra Kala is entertaining as Manu. Pooja Chopra is so-so as Yashika. Atul Parchure is okay as insurance agent Sachin Agarkar. Jaywant Wadkar is fair as police inspector Ajeet Tendulkar. Madhu Anand Chandhok lends average support as Yojana’s aunt. Others are adequate.
Abhishek Dogra’s direction is ordinary. George Joseph’s background music is routine. Sarthak Johar’s cinematography is quite alright. Lucky Madhukar’s production designing is okay. Sandeep Kurup’s editing leaves something to be desired.
On the whole, Jeevan Ya Bheema Con? is a flop show.
