Universal Pictures’ The Secret Life Of Pets 2 (dubbed from the Hollywood film of the same name) is a 3D computer-animated comedy film. It is the sequel to The Secret Life Of Pets.
Max, the terrier dog, experiences changes in his life when his owner gets married and has a baby. The family takes a trip to the countryside and Max has a terrible time with other animals. But he soon meets farm dog Rooster who helps him regain his equilibrium.
Brian Lynch has written an interesting story about the predicament of pets. His screenplay is both, engaging and fairly interesting too. However, the animation is a major limitation for the Hindi film-going audience. The voice acting of the animals and other characters (humans) is of a fine standard.
Chris Renaud and Jonathan del Val’s direction is alright. Alexandre Desplat’s background score is okay. Computer graphics are wonderful. Colin Stimpson’s production designing is okay. Tiffany Hillkurtz’s editing is sharp.
On the whole, The Secret Life Of Pets 2 is a fair entertainer but its business will not be commensurate with the merits because of the Hindi film-going audience’s general aversion to animation films. The original English version will fare better at the ticket windows.
Released on 14-6-’19 at Jai Hind Mukta A2 (in 3D; daily 1 show) and other cinemas of Bombay thru Shringar Films Pvt. Ltd. Publicity: okay. Opening: ordinary. …….Also released all over. Opening was not upto the mark. The original English version opened better.
