VIP GADHAV (Marathi) | 14 September, 2019

Kalpraj Creations’ VIP Gadhav (Marathi; UA) is the story of a donkey which becomes like a VIP when the Collector of the district orders that the donkey, which is injured, should be taken good care of. The donkey – named Murli – belongs to Gangaram (Bhau Kadam) and his wife, Kashi (Sheetal Ahirrao). The drama that follows the VIP treatment given to Murli is the crux of the story.

Dr. Ranjeet Satre’s story is not really very funny and is also too thin. The screenplay, penned by Dr. Ranjeet Satre and Dr. Prasanna Deochakke, is interesting in bits and parts only. Inconsistency in the screenplay is evident all through the drama which, therefore, becomes quite tedious. Sanjay Dandwate’s dialogues are funny at places.

Bhau Kadam acts well as Gangaram. Sheetal Ahirrao is quite good as Kashi. Bharat Ganeshpure makes his mark as the police inspector. Vijay Patkar and the others lend average support.

Sanjay U. Patil’s direction is routine. Music (Ashok Vayangankar and Ravi Vavhole) and lyrics (B.K. Momin Kavathekar) are just about functional. Subodh R. Arekar’s choreography is okay. Rajesh Nadone’s camerawork is average. Sets (by Kamlesh Mokal) are commonplace. Hemant Chavan’s editing is so-so.

On the whole, VIP Gadhav is a flop show.

Released on 13-9-’19 at Bharatmata (daily 1 show) and other cinemas of Bombay thru Rajat Enterprises. Publicity & opening: poor.
