‘ZING’ (MARATHI) REVIEW | 19 September, 2025

Dream Laalten Production and Red Bricks Motion Pictures’ Zing (Marathi; UA) is the story of the quest and endeavour of a young man to fulfill his late father’s unfulfilled dream — of reviving the family’s traditional folk theatre troupe. Standing in his way are his grandfather, the disbelieving villagers, and the politics of the village head.

The story is dull and so is the screenplay. The drama moves at a slow pace, adding to the viewers’ tale of woes. Even the dialogues are commonplace.

Sourabh Kumbhar is so-so as Kisan, the man driven by his late father’s unrealised dream. Rohit Chavan is ordinary as Shirpa. Shubham Chaudhary does an average job as Namya. Mohan Raut is okay as Mohanrao. Shashank Shende makes a fine impression as Patil. Tejal Shinde is fair in the role of Manjula. Nikita Suresh performs routinely as Pinki. Somnath Patil (as Parsha), Ketan Pawar (as Bhima), Sandesh Keste (as Shinkarya), Santosh Shinde (as Totya), Umesh Bolake (as Aaba), Manjusha Thetri (as Shivanta), Vikas Sawant (as Sarjirao), Raju Swami (as Raju) and Suraj Kamble (as Santya) fit the bill.

Amit Koli’s direction is not of the kind which can entertain the audience. Padmanabh Gaikwad’s music and background score are alright. Lyrics (Mukund Bhalerao, Mandar Cholkar and Shubham Chaudhary) are appropriate. Ashish Patil’s song picturisations are average. Camerawork (by Pratap Joshi) is fair. Vicky Bidkar’s art direction is functional. Editing leaves something to be desired.

On the whole, Zing is a flop show.

Released on 19-9-’25 at City Light (daily 1 show)  and other cinemas of Bombay thru August Entertainment. Publicity & opening: very poor.
