Thai officials have warned the producers of Jurassic World against damaging the country’s beaches and national parks when they shoot the next instalment of the franchise. Shooting is expected to take place in Bangkok and at national parks in Krabi, Phuket, Phang-nga and Trang, starting next week and running into July.
Environment minister Phatacharavat Wongsuwan said that Thailand was honoured to host the filming. “However, it is strictly required that they comply with relevant laws and regulations,” he said.
The strict warning comes more than 20 years after Leonardo DiCaprio starrer The Beach drew widespread criticism for its impact on the pristine sands of Maya Bay. The film’s producers had planted dozens of coconut trees to give a more tropical feel and had been accused of ripping up vegetation.
