Maharashtra cultural affairs minister Ashish Shelar on August 17 assumed charge as chairperson of ND Studios at Karjat near Bombay. The studio was recently taken over by the state government for operations.

It was decided at the board meeting that a 50% concession would be offered up to March 31, 2027 on accommodation charges for producers, artistes, art directors and other dignitaries coming for shooting, as well as charges for various locations made available for shooting.

As the same board meeting, discussions were also held for the effective development of ND Studios beyond its use as a filming destination, with a focus on film production, entertainment and cultural tourism.
