‘MAGAZINE’ (MARATHI) REVIEW | 23 October, 2026

Roots Back Home and Home Cook Films’ Magazine (Marathi) is the story of a son who doesn’t want to look after the business of his father’s magazine. But he has a change of heart when he goes to his village and meets two people there.

Velu (Raghav Vartak) is not keen on getting into his father’s business of magazine publishing. One day, he goes to meet Ramanna (Nandikurale) who is the caretaker of his family’s field and house in the village. Ramanna passes away before Velu can meet him. But Velu learns a lesson from Ramanna’s son, Pushpak (Dr. Nilesh Mane), and from his childhood friend, Shripad (Sudarshan Deshmukh). Both of them had chosen to stay back in the village and carry forward the work of their respective fathers.

Shubham Sanjay Shevade has written a story which is hardly inspiring although that’s what it should’ve been. The screenplay, penned by Shubham Sanjay Shevade and Pratik Handore, is boring and dull. Shubham Sanjay Shevade’s dialogues are ordinary.

Raghav Vartak is okay as Velu. Dr. Nilesh Mane is alright as Pushpak. Sudarshan Deshmukh is fair in the role of Shripad. Vedika Kulkarni hardly gets any scope as Velu’s girlfriend, Sarika. She does an average job. Atul Parchure (as Velu’s father), Shivaji Satam (as Dattatray Kulkarni), Kishore Kadam (as Sudhakar), Rangole (as Pushpak’s mother, Godakka) and Nandikurale (as Ramanna) lend routine support. Others are barely passable.

Shubham Sanjay Shevade’s direction is below the mark. There are no songs in the film, which is another minus point. Vilakshan Kandwal’s background music is ordinary. Dattaraj Kuvalekar’s camerawork is so-so. Editing (by Shubham Sanjay Shevade) is loose.

On the whole, Magazine is a flop show.
