‘SURYAA’ IN EYE OF CONTROVERSY: IMA SEEKS REVIEW BY GOVT. | 23 October, 2026

The Indian Medical Association (IMA) has written to the I & B ministry to urgently review the promotional content of Sunny Deol starrer Suryaa, alleging that it generalises corruption in the medical profession and depicts violence against healthcare workers in ways that could erode public trust and put doctors’ safety at risk.

In a letter dated 22nd October to I & B minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, IMA national president Dr. Anilkumar J. Nayak sought an impartial review of the upcoming film’s teaser and appropriate corrective measures from its producers. The Association also called for a ban if justified under the applicable law.

Suryaa will hit the screens on 20th November.
