Luminoso Pictures LLP, Civic Studios, Good Bad Films and Flip Films’ Little Thomas (UA) is about a seven-year-old boy, Thomas, who desperately wants a little brother. But his quarrelling parents no longer kiss. When Thomas realises that kissing is the key to getting a baby brother, he takes it upon himself to bring his parents back together.
Kaushal Oza’s story line is thin. Although it is interesting, it moves on a single track and, therefore, becomes boring after a point. His screenplay is interesting in parts only, that too, for a very thin section of the class audience. Kaushal Oza’s dialogues are natural.
Rasika Duggal is very good as Thomas’ mother, Jessie. Gulshan Devaiah is supremely natural as Thomas’ father, Desmond. Hridansh Parekh is very cute and endearing in the title role. He acts brilliantly. Hridyaansh Gokani is lovely as Nigel. Ninad Pandith is realistic as Murthy. Mahabanoo Mody-Kotwal makes a fine mark as Mrs. Braganza. Aarush Sarda lives the role of Savio. Aseem Hattangadi is effective as Reuben. Preeti Sharma makes her presence felt as Cynthia. Sanjay Gurbaxani leaves a mark as Father. Faezeh Jalali (as the confession lady) evokes laughter with her lovely acting. Uday Chandra (as Johnson), Ravi Ashok Mahashabde (as the drunkard), Mukund Bhatt (as Kaalsao uncle), Cyli Khare (as Johnson’s partner), Satish Gaonkar (as Pedru), Samiksha Karmalkar (as Savio’s mother), Sumail Khaniwale (as the friend of Savio’s mother), Sohini Niyogi (as Nigel’s mother), Aurobindo Bhattacharjee (as the choir master), Ira Rai (as Phillie), Mirha (as Puldose Dias), Mihir Godbole (as grown-up Thomas) and the others lend decent support.
Kaushal Oza’s direction is quite nice. Music (Shailendra Barve, Aditya N. and Nayantara Bhatkal) is not of the popular variety. Lyrics (Jitendra Joshi, Bhupesh Bandekar, Ranjan Singh, Iago, Neeraj Pandey, Suresh Bhatia, Sanjay Sharma and Cecil Alexander) are in synch with the mood of the film. Lipsa Acharya’s choreography is functional. Background music (by Mayukh and Mainak) is impactful. Dorian Lucarelli’s cinematography is okay. Production designing (by Vikram Singh and Parul Rai) is wonderful. Amit Malhota’s editing should’ve been sharper.
On the whole, Little Thomas may be a fair fare but its box-office prospects are almost nil.
Released on 23-10-’26 at Metro Inox (daily 1 show) and other cinemas of Bombay by Luminoso Pictures LLP. Publicity & opening: weak. …….Also released all over. Opening was poor everywhere.
