SLOW AFTER ‘TUMHARI SULU’ | 7 October, 2019

Director Suresh Triveni is pretty strict with himself. If he has been lying low for two years after making Tumhari Sulu, it is because of this trait of his. Otherwise, the filmmaker should have actually completed his second film by now. But if he hasn’t even started his second directorial venture, it is because he wasn’t satisfied with what he wrote soon after the success of his maiden venture. “I scrapped two scripts which I wrote after Tumhari Sulu,” reveals Triveni, “because they both appeared to me to have been written without conviction.” He further explains, “After I’d finished penning each of the two scripts, I realised that I had been writing it not from my heart but as per commercial demands. That, I thought, could never be the correct way to write a script.” Suresh is now ready with not one or two but three scripts. Obviously, they must’ve been written with all the conviction at his command. He is in talks with a corporate house to make one film, to begin with.
