A special court on 14th May sent DHFL promoter Kapil Wadhawan and his brother, film producer Dheeraj Wadhawan, to Enforcement Directorate (ED) custody until 22nd May. It issued a production warrant on 13th May after the ED sought to take custody of the two brothers. They were in judicial custody after being arrested in the Rs. 750-crore Yes Bank money-laundering case involving promoter Rana Kapoor, and another case involving Rs. 4,200 crore funds received for fixed deposit from two trusts of Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Provident Funds. The Yes Bank case is being investigated by the CBI. Their bail pleas in the CBI case were adjourned to May 22.
The two brothers were arrested by the ED. On 12th May, the Bombay high court rejected their anticipatory bail pleas.
