OTT BOLLYWOOD RELEASES SUBMITTED FOR OSCAR ENTRY SELECTION | 23 November, 2020

Around seven to eight months of year 2020 were lost to the coronavirus pandemic during which all new films released on OTT platforms rather than in the cinemas as the latter were shut. But all those films, which were premiered on streaming platforms, are eligible for selection as India’s entry to the Oscars. Among other films, they are also being currently viewed online by jury members who will select the Indian entry to the Oscars. The jury this year is headed by Rahul Rawail.

Among the Hindi films submitted for consideration are Sir, Shikara, Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl, Shakuntala, Chhalaang, Gulabo Sitabo, Chhapaak, Bahattar Hoorian, Bhonsle, AK Vs AK, Kaamyaab, Serious Men, Bulbul, I Pad, Atkan Chatkan and Chintu Ka Birthday. Three Marathi films — Chippa, The Disciple and Bittersweet — have also been submitted. Two Malayalam movies — Moothon and Jallikattu — are in the race. Nila Madhab Panda’s Oriya film, Kalira Atita, is also up for consideration.
