Do you know the terms at which Bellbottom will be screened in the multiplexes and single-screen cinemas from Thursday, August 19? Well, the distributors of the Akshay Kumar starrer would get a higher percentage of the net collections than usual. Call it the first mover advantage or whatever but the distributors of Bellbottom, which will be the fist big-budget and star-cast release of the last 17 months, will stand to gain.
The film is being booked by distributors as follows:
60% of the net collections for week 1 will be the distributor’s share
55% of the net collections for week 2 will be the distributor’s share
50% of the net collections for weeks 3 & 4 will be the distributor’s share
5th week onwards: to be decided later
For single-screen cinemas, the share of the theatre (proportionate to capacity allowed) will be calculated as per the formula for multiplexes.
The share of the distributors in the revenue from 3D glasses (if extra charges are collected) will be 25%.
The window for releasing the film on the digital platform has been halved to four weeks. That is, the producers can premiere the film on OTT after four weeks. Vashu Bhagnani was trying to get the exhibitors to agree to a two-week theatrical window but ultimately settled for a four-week window.
