‘SOORYAVANSHI’ SWEEPS BOX-OFFICE

Sooryavanshi swept the box-office in the first week. Although collections dropped from Monday/Tuesday onwards, the first three/four days were so wonderful that the first week’s total added up to a fantastic figure of Rs. 120.66 crore. It opened at Rs. 26.29 crore. Collections on Saturday dropped to Rs. 23.85 crore but picked up again on Sunday which closed at Rs. 26.94 crore. In this way, the total for the first weekend was a phenomenal Rs. 77.08 crore. Considering that cinemas in Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Haryana, Bihar and Jharkhand were operating at 50% capacity, and cinemas in West Bengal, at 70% capacity, the weekend total of Rs. 77.08 crore was fabulous. Collections on the weekdays were also pretty impressive although they dropped from Monday at places, and from Tuesday at other places. Weekdays’ collections: Monday – Rs. 14.51 crore, Tuesday – Rs. 11.22 crore, Wednesday – Rs. 9.55 crore, Thursday – Rs. 8.30 crore. The total for the four weekdays was, therefore, Rs. 43.58 crore. The film crossed the Rs. 100-crore mark on the fifth day, at the end of which its total was Rs. 102.81 crore. First week’s total: Rs. 120.66 crore. The film fared the best in Gujarat and Saurashtra. Not just in India, the film performed very well Overseas too. It grossed an equivalent of Rs. 8.10 crore on the first day, Rs. 8.58 crore on the second day, and Rs. 7.90 crore on the third day. In this way, the first weekend Overseas closed at Rs. 24.58 crore. Grosses on the weekdays were as follows: Monday – Rs. 3.60 crore, Tuesday – Rs. 3.30 crore, Wednesday – Rs. 2.68 crore, Thursday – Rs. 3.08 crore. Therefore, the total for the four weekdays was Rs. 12.66 crore. In this way, the Overseas total for the first week was Rs. 37.24 crore.

Eternals (dubbed and original English versions) did fair in 1st week. It netted Rs. 7.35 crore on the first day. Collections on Saturday and Sunday were Rs. 5.75 crore and Rs. 6 crore respectively, taking the first weekend’s total to Rs. 19.10 crore. Collections during the weekdays were: Monday – Rs. 2.50 crore, Tuesday – Rs. 2 crore, Wednesday – Rs. 1.80 crore, Thursday – Rs. 1.50 crore. In this way, the total for the weekdays was Rs. 7.80 crore. Total for the first week: Rs. 26.90 crore.

Honsla Rakh (Punjabi) has turned out to be the fourth biggest hit in India, after Carry On Jatta 2 (net collections: Rs. 32 crore), Shadaa (net collections: Rs. 29 crore), and Chaar Sahebzaade (net collections: Rs. 22 crore). Diljit Dosanjh’s Honsla Rakh is expected to net a total of Rs. 20-20.5 crore, which is the same as Sardarji, also starring Diljit Dosanjh. Overseas, Honsla Rakh is next only to Chal Mera Putt 2 which grossed an equivalent of Rs. 31 crore. Honsla Rakh will stop at Rs. 27 crore. Chal Mera Putt (gross: Rs. 21 crore), Chaar Sahebzaade (gross: Rs. 21 crore) and Shadaa (gross: Rs. 18 crore) are at number 3, 4 and 5 respectively Overseas.
