Producer Parag Sanghavi, who is in judicial custody for an alleged Rs. 13.74 crore cheating case, was arrested again by the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of Bombay police on 27th December in yet another cheating case. The Housing unit of the EOW on 27th took custody of Sanghavi from the Arthur Road jail in Bombay for a day in connection with a 2018 cheating case filed by Purshottam Bijlani. Sanghavi was again sent to judicial custody after a day.
Bijlani alleged that he had booked two flats in an upcoming project of Kamla Landmarc group’s concern, Kamlakshmi Developers LLP, in 2009. He further alleged that partners Jitendra Jain, Jinendra Jain and Ketan Shah took Rs. 3.9 crore from him against two flats admeasuring 1,600 sq. ft. each. The accused partners allegedly failed to complete the project or hand over possession of the flats to Purshottam Bijlani. Fifteen more buyers filed similar complaints against the accused. Some of the proceeds had gone into Parag Sanghavi’s account too. It may be mentioned here that Sanghavi is one of the partners in a construction firm with Jitendra Jain.
