ARMAAN KOHLI DENIED BAIL IN DRUGS CASE | 23 February, 2022

A special NDPS court in Bombay on February 22 denied actor Armaan Kohli, who was arrested by the Narcotics Control Bureau in August last year for alleged possession and consumption of drugs, interim bail. His regular bail pleas have been rejected both, by the special court and the Bombay high court, on previous occasions.

Armaan had recently sought interim bail for 14 days to visit his ailing parents, filmmaker Rajkumar Kohli and yesteryear actress Nishi Kohli. He later urged the court to grant him bail for just two days. However, the NCB opposed his bail plea, saying that he had been arrested under a section of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act for possession of commercial quantity of drugs. The relevant section does not have provision for bail even on medical grounds, the NCB argued, adding that the ground mentioned in the actor’s bail application did not inspire confidence.
