‘ET – ETHARKKUM THUNINDHAVAN’ (DUBBED) REVIEW | 11 March, 2022

Sun Pictures’ ET – Etharkkum Thunindhavan (dubbed from Tamil film Etharkkum Thunindhavan; UA) is an action film with family drama. Kannabiran (Suriya) is a lawyer by profession. He comes as a saviour for the women of his town when their private videos are shot by Inba (Vinay Rai) and his gang. How Kannabiran brings the evil man to book forms the crux of the story.

Pandiraj has written an extremely routine story which only has the point of private videos as the novelty factor. Otherwise, the subject about a noble person helping damsels in distress is clichéd. His screenplay relies heavily on the tried and tested elements and, therefore, becomes predictable. Dialogues are good but only at a few places.

Suriya looks handsome and does a fine job as Kannabiran. Priyanka Arul Mohan is fair as Aadhini. Vinay Rai proves to be an average villain as he doesn’t match up to Suriya. Sathyaraj (as Kannabiran’s father) and Saranya Ponvannan (as Kannabiran’s mother) lend ordinary support. Rajkiran is so-so as Aadhini’s father. Madhusudan Rao (as Inba’s father), Jayaprakash (as Thiraviya Pandian), Hareesh Peradi, Devadarshini (as Anjumani), M.S. Bhaskar, Soori (as Aavani Soolamani) and the others are average.

Pandiraj’s direction, like his script, caters to the front-benchers only. D. Imman’s music is below the mark. R. Rathnavelu’s camerawork is appropriate. Action scenes afford some thrill. Ruben’s editing is loose. Dubbing is good.

On the whole, ET – Etharkkum Thunindhavan is a flop fare.
