Fox Star Studios, Friday Filmworks and Bootroom Sports’ Kaun Pravin Tambe? is a biographical sports drama. It is based on the life of Indian Premier League cricketer Pravin Tambe.
Kiran Yadnyopavit’s story is based on the real-life story of the cricketer. It fails to effectively present Pravin Tambe as an inspirational hero. It also does not delve deep into the mind of the subject. Kiran Yadnyopavit’s screenplay, therefore, remains just an account of a cricketer who shone quite late in life. The drama is so mediocre that even the excitement of a sports film, fails to involve the viewers. Kapil Sawant’s dialogues are ordinary.
Shreyas Talpade is earnest as cricketer Pravin Tambe, but he is unable to rise above the lacklustre script. Anjali Patil is fair. Parambrata Chatterjee does well. Ashish Vidyarthi leaves a fine mark. Varoon Verma is alright as Pravin’s brother. Arun Nalawade has his moments. Chhaya Kadam lends average support. Ankur Dabas, K.K. Gautam, Kamila Ratikant, Hemant Soni and Trishaan provide routine support.
Jayprad Desai’s direction is mediocre. His narration fails to make the sports drama exciting. Anurag Saikia’s music and Shakeel Azmi’s lyrics are functional. Sai-Piyush’s background music should’ve been more effective. Sudheer Palsane’s camerawork is quite nice. Abbas Ali Moghul’s action and stunts are so-so. Gorakshnath Khande’s editing leaves something to be desired.
On the whole, Kaun Pravin Tambe? is a dull and unexciting fare.
