CHARGESHEET FILED: CHOREOGRAPHER GANESH ACHARYA ACCUSED OF SEXUAL HARASSMENT | 1 April, 2022

Choreographer Ganesh Acharya has been accused of sexual harassment, stalking and voyeurism, according to a complaint filed by a dancer in 2020. The Bombay police have filed a chargesheet against Acharya and his assistant, in the metropolitan magistrate’s court at Andheri in Bombay. Ganesh has been charged under sections 354A (sexual harassment), 354C (voyeurism), 354D (stalking), 509 (insulting the modesty of a woman), 323 (causing hurt), 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peace), 506 (criminal intimidation) and 34 (common intention to commit offence) of the IPC.

According to the complainant-dancer, Ganesh had been harassing her as she had turned down his sexual advances. She also accused him of making lewd comments, showing her porn and molesting her. According to her, in 2019, Ganesh Acharya allegedly told her that if she wanted to succeed, she would have to have sex with him. After six months, the Indian Film and Television Choreographers Association terminated her membership.
