Ryan Bracko (39), who used to work in Scrabble, and his wife were booked on May 31 for the murder of their seven-year-old daughter in a hotel at Mira Road (Bombay) on May 27. The hotel staff found the body of the child on May 30 after they heard Ryan’s wife scream for help. Ryan himself had fled the scene. He was found drunk in a Mira Road lodge near the station on May 30.
Ryan used to work for Scrabble prior to the lockdown but had left the company and had joined a production house as production manager. He quit that job too in April and was under debt. His wife, Poonam, works as a primary school teacher. The couple had reportedly sold their Vasai (Bombay) flat for Rs. 30 lakh-plus to repay their debts. They had taken a house on rent, which they were asked to vacate as they weren’t able to pay the rent.
On May 27, Ryan sold his and his wife’s mobile phones and checked into Seasons Hotel. Later, the two consumed rat poison and also mixed it with the child’s food. Ryan had loose motions while his wife vomited a lot but they both survived whereas the child died.
