CARNIVAL CLEARS OLD SHOW TAX DUES AFTER INDORE MUNICIPAL CORP.’S ACTION | 11 June, 2022

Carnival multiplex in Mangal City Mall in Indore was running without having cleared show tax dues of two years. The Indore municipal corporation sealed the projection room of the multiplex on 9th June even while a show of Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 was in progress. The overdue amount totalled a whopping Rs. 7,30,400. However, the cinema management dilly-dallied but refused to pay the dues.

The authorities next reached the same group’s multiplex in Malhar Mega Mall in the city. Sensing that the municipal corporation meant business, the management asked for half an hour’s time. Within 30 minutes, the show tax dues of not just this multiplex but of both the multiplexes, totalling Rs. 13,70,400, were paid.

The Indore municipal corporation charges Rs. 200 per show by way of show tax.
