A single-screen cinema in Surendranagar (Gujarat) — Shree Mahalaxmi Talkies — has been converted into a three-screen multiplex inside a mall. The multiplex has been named SMT (short for Shree Mahalaxmi Talkies) Cinema. Two screens of the multiplex opened today with Fast & Furious 9: The Fast Saga, Shang-Chi And The Legend Of The Ten Rings, Bell Bottom and Chehre.
Shree Mahalaxmi Talkies is an 84-year-old cinema. Its licence was issued by the British government. After running it as a single-screen cinema, owner Bimal Kapasi has now converted it into a multiplex.
