A special court in Bombay recently refused to grant a 32-year-old actor, arrested last year in a fake currency notes racket, bail. The scam related to counterfeit notes of Rs. 7 crore. Rejecting the plea of actor Sumit alias Sam Yashpal, the judge said that evidence clearly demonstrated that all the seven accused were part of a conspiracy and engaged in illegal activities of manufacturing and trafficking counterfeit currency notes.
The court also said that a large quantity of currency notes was seized from the accused who had hatched a conspiracy to manufacture and deal in fake notes and circulate the same in the market.
The prosecution opposed the bail plea, submitting that a large quantity of counterfeit currency notes had been seized from the actor and his associates.
