The Bombay police today (November 3) issued a second notice to Kangana Ranaut and her sister, Rangoli Chandel, in connection with a case of allegedly promoting enmity between communities through their remarks on social media. The Bandra (Bombay) police on 21st October had issued a notice to the two sisters to record their statements in the case but they had said, they were busy in Himachal Pradesh with the wedding preparations of their cousin. The Bandra police have now sent a second notice to both to remain present at the police station on November 10 to record their statements in the case.
The Bandra metropolitan magistrate’s court last month asked the police to investigate a complaint filed by Bollywood casting director and fitness trainer Munawwar Ali Sayyed, referring to tweets and other social media posts of Kangana and her sister. The Bandra police then registered an FIR against Kangana and Rangoli under IPC sections 153-A (promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion, race, etc.), 295-A (deliberate acts hurting religious sentiments), 124-A (sedition) and 34 (common intention).
