The iconic Chandan cinema at Juhu in Bombay has finally been razed to the ground. The cinema had downed shutters in April 2019, but the dilapidated building stood there as a reminder of the hundreds of films it had screened. Akshay Kumar starrer Kesari was the last film to be screened there.
Since it was located in Juhu, it was the favourite of film people before multiplexes mushroomed in and around the area, because many of them stayed in the locality. In a way, the demolition of the cinema building marks the end of an era.
