A metropolitan magistrate court in Delhi on August 28 expressed displeasure over singer Honey Singh not appearing before it in a domestic violence case filed against him by his wife. Magistrate Tania Singh said, no one was above the law. She added, “Surprised to see how this case is being taken so lightly.” The court also noted that Honey had not filed his income affidavit and was not prepared with the arguments.
The magistrate gave Honey Singh a last opportunity and asked him not to repeat such conduct. The singer had, through his lawyer, moved an application seeking exemption from appearing before the court, citing medical reasons. Honey Singh’s wife broke down during the hearing. She told the court that she had given her husband 10 years, but he had abandoned her. The magistrate said, she was concerned about her (Honey’s wife) mental well-being.
