F.I.R. OVER ILLEGAL ONLINE CIRCULATION OF ‘CHHAAVA’ | 21 March, 2025

The Bombay South region cyber police station on March 20 registered a case against unidentified persons for illegally circulating Chhaava on many digital platforms. The FIR was filed on a complaint by Rajat Haksar, CEO of August Entertainment, an anti-piracy agency appointed by Maddock Films, producers of Chhaava.

The complainant told the police that the historical film, released on February 14, was illegally made available through 1,818 internet links in violation of copyright laws, which adversely affected its theatrical distribution business. A case for criminal breach of trust and extortion under the BNS, Copyright Act, Cinematograph Act and the IT Act has been registered.
