The Bombay police on August 13 started a preliminary enquiry (PE) into a complaint by Shailendra Singh (on right in display picture above) against his brother, Harindrapal Singh (on left in display picture), chairman and managing director of Percept, and 26 others, including directors of Percept Live, Big Tree Entertainment (parent company of BookMyShow), and Spacebound Web Labs. No FIR has been lodged yet as the matter is still at the assessment stage.
The case stems from a 2017 family settlement under which the two brothers decided to equally split their business interests, with Shailendra first resigning from all company directorships. He alleged that after his resignation, Harindrapal Singh, in collusion with others, transferred the Sunburn IP trademarks to Spacebound Web Labs for just Rs. 57,000 although it was allegedly valued at Rs. 600 crore.
According to the complaint, Shailendra had successfully launched multiple entertainment and media IPs, including Sunburn, in 2007, when he was the creative head and one of the joint managing directors and promoters of Percept.
