Sachin Dabhade Films’ Journey (Marathi) is the story of resilience and determination. Shubham (Shubham More), a 14-year-old boy, gets separated from his classmates while on a school trip, and gets trapped in a man-made deep hole in the jungle. He struggles for three days, battling hunger, thirst and fear.
Sachin Jeevanrao Dabhade has penned a story which is quite engaging and emotional. Ravindra Mathadhikari’s screenplay is fairly nice but having said that, it must be added that it moves on a single track and, therefore, becomes monotonous after a point of time. Ravindra Mathadhikari’s dialogues are good.
Shubham More is alright as Shubham. Shantanu Moghe impresses as Shubham’s father. Sharvari Jamenis acts ably as Shubham’s mother. Anjali Ujawane lends nice support. Omkar Govardhan is fair. Yogesh Soman makes his presence felt. Sunil Godbole is alright. Milind Dastane is so-so as the police inspector. Prashant Tapasvi is okay. Others pass muster.
Sachin Jeevanrao Dabhade’s direction is quite nice. He has made a heartfelt film. Vishal Kamble’s background music is impactful. Camerawork (by Vaibhav Dange, Santosh Amin and Nishant Bhagwat) is of a good standard. Nishchay Atal’s art direction is proper. Aniket Ghadge’s editing should’ve been crisper.
On the whole, Journey may be an emotional fare but its box-office prospects are dull.
Released on 31-1-’25 at Movie Time Goregaon (daily 1 show; show cancelled on first day) and other cinemas of Bombay thru Box Hit Movies. Publicity & opening: dull.
