KAMAL HAASAN BOOKED FOR POLL CODE VIOLATION | 5 April, 2021

A case was recently registered against actor-politician Kamal Haasan for violating the model code of conduct, based on a complaint filed by independent candidate Palanikumar who is contesting from the same constituency — Coimbatore South — as Kamal.

Palanikumar told the police that stage actors dressed as Hindu Gods and Goddesses were used during Kamal Haasan’s political campaign near a temple at Ram Nagar on April 1, which was violative of the poll code. The actor-politician was booked under sections 123(3) and 125 of the Representation Of The People Act, 1951. Polls in Tamil Nadu will start tomorrow (April 6).
