Singer Kanika Kapoor, who was among the first Bollywood personalities to test COVID-19 positive in March, returned to London in June to be with her three children while the probe against her is still on in Lucknow. An FIR had been filed against her on 20th March for spreading the coronavirus and not informing the health authorities about her travel history in March.
While the government’s ban on travel from the UK to India came into force on 18th March, Kanika later informed the police that she came from the UK to India on 9th March. From Bombay, she went to Lucknow on 11th March. Before testing positive for coronavirus, she had attended parties and social gatherings in Lucknow and had also visited her grandmother in Kanpur. The FIR alleged that she had put around 500 lives to risk in all. The police have still not got the singer’s March travel details from Air India, after receipt of which they will proceed in the matter.
