SUCCESS STILL ELUDING BOX-OFFICE

Goodbye proved to be a damp squib all over in its first week which, at many places, also turned out to be its last. It netted Rs. 0.94 crore on the first day of the first weekend. After the dismal start, collections picked up on Saturday and Sunday but not substantially. The second day closed at Rs. 1.37 crore while Sunday closed at Rs. 1.42 crore. After a first weekend total of Rs. 3.73 crore, collections for the weekdays were as follows: Monday – Rs. 0.42 crore, Tuesday – Rs. 0.67 crore, Wednesday – Rs. 0.38 crore, Thursday – Rs. 0.36 crore. In this way, the total for the weekdays was a dull Rs. 1.83 crore. Total for 1st week: Rs. 5.56 crore.

Nazar Andaaz bombed miserably in the first week.

Hindutva failed to make any mark at the box-office in its first week.

Chakki proved to be a debacle in the first week.

Aa Bhi Ja O Piya met with a disastrous fate at the turnstiles in 1st week.

Godfather (dubbed) did ordinary in 1st week. The original Telugu version collected far better down South. It netted Rs. 1.61 crore on the first day (Wednesday). Its opening was aided due to the Dassera holiday. Collections dropped to Rs. 0.86 crore on the second day (Thursday). Collections picked up during the weekend when the action film collected Rs. 0.97 crore on Friday, Rs. 1.45 crore on Saturday, and Rs. 1.66 crore on Sunday. In this way, the total for the first 5-day weekend was Rs. 6.55 crore. Collections dropped during the weekdays: Monday – Rs. 0.84 crore, Tuesday – Rs. 0.64 crore, Wednesday – Rs. 0.56 crore, Thursday – Rs. 0.44 crore. Therefore, the total for the weekdays was Rs. 2.48 crore. In this way, the total for the 9-day week was Rs. 9.03 crore.

Vikram Vedha recorded dull collections in 2nd week. The first day of the second weekend registered a total of just Rs. 2.50 crore. Collections picked up on Saturday which closed at Rs. 4 crore. There was no increase on Sunday which also closed at Rs. 4 crore. Therefore, the total for the second weekend was Rs. 10.50 crore. The total for the weekdays was Rs. 6.25 crore. In this way, the second week closed at Rs. 16.75 crore. Grand total for 2 weeks: Rs. 75 crore.

Ponniyin Selvan – I (dubbed) was also ordinary in 2nd week. It netted Rs. 0.70 crore on the first day of the second weekend. Collections on Saturday doubled to Rs. 1.40 crore, and further increased to Rs. 1.70 crore on Sunday. In this way, the second weekend closed at Rs. 3.80 crore. Collections during the weekdays were as follows: Monday – Rs. 0.52 crore, Tuesday – Rs. 0.47 crore, Wednesday – Rs. 0.43 crore, Thursday – Rs. 0.40 crore. Therefore, the total for the weekdays was Rs. 1.82 crore. Total for 2nd week: Rs. 5.62 crore. Grand total for 2 weeks: Rs. 19.87 crore.

Brahmastra: Part One – Shiva is on its way out of the cinemas. All the versions together netted Rs. 1.75 crore in 5th week. Grand total for 5 weeks: Rs. 249.75 crore.

Shivpratap Garudjhep (Marathi) did well in Maharashtra in the first weekend but dropped thereafter.

Aapdi Thaapdi (Marathi) bombed all over Maharashtra in the first week.

Hawahawai (Marathi) recorded dull collections in Maharashtra in the first week.
