Kathakaar Films’ Main Ladega (UA) is the story of Akash Pratap Singh (Akash Pratap Singh) who lives in a dysfunctional family. His father (Ashwath Bhatt) regularly gets drunk and beats his mother (Jyoti Gauba), because of which his mother moves out and shifts to her maternal home. She takes along Akash and his younger brother, Vansh (Raunak Vansh), with her. Akash studies in Std. XII in the Army school. Gurnaam (Gandharva Deewan), Gauri (Vallari Viraj), Gaurav (Ahan Nirban) and Sonu (Saurabh Pachauri) are Akash’s friends in the Army school. Since Gurnaam used to be a boxing expert but wants to concentrate on his studies this year, Akash decides to get initiated into boxing. Gurnaam trains Akash. On the day of the national tournament being held in Bombay, Akash gets the news of his father’s demise. However, he still participates in the tournament and what’s more, even wins the competition against Bheem Singh (Rahil Siddique) who had defeated Gurnaam thrice.
Akash Pratap Singh has written a story which is routine. His screenplay is interesting but in parts only. Some light moments are good. A couple of emotions touch the heart. The romance between Akash and Gauri is fair. Akash Pratap Singh’s dialogues are alright.
Akash Pratap Singh does a fine job as Akash Pratap Singh. Vallari Viraj does well as Gauri. Gandharva Dewan lends nice support as Gurnaam. Ashwath Bhatt is adequate in the role of Akash’s father. Jyoti Gauba is alright as Akash’s mother. Saurabh Pachauri (as Sonu), Ahan Nirban (as Gaurav), Prathmesh Mehta (as Akash’s maternal grandfather), Sabni Rana (as Akash’s maternal grandmother), Divya Kharnare (as Pradeep), Tarun Dudeja (as Darshan), Raunak Vansh (as Akash’s brother, Vansh), Paramveer Singh (as Randhawa Sir), Nadeem Khan (as Pandey Sir), Ashish Ghosh (as the Army school principal), Rahil Siddique (as boxing champion Bheem Singh), Shailesh Tripathi (as Bheem Singh’s coach), and the rest provide routine support.
Gaurav Rana’s direction is ordinary. Music (Mukund Suryawanshi (Jam8), Gibson George (Jam8) and Akshay Menon) is average. Lyrics (by Vaishnavi Thakur, Shloke Lal, Akshay Dhawan (Jam8) and Anwesha Datta Gupta) are commonplace. Background music (by Wilfred Soz and Niraj Vishwakarma (Jam8)) is okay. Lucky Yadav’s camerawork is fair. Wasim Kaushal’s action and stunts are alright. Hemant Kakirde’s production designing hardly deserve separate mention. Satya Sharma’s editing is reasonably sharp.
On the whole, Main Ladega may be a fairly well made film but it will prove to be a flop show at the ticket windows due to lack of face value and absence of compelling content.
Released on 26-4-’24 at Gem (daily 1 show) and other cinemas of Bombay thru White Lion Entertainment. Publicity & opening: poor. …….Also released all over. Opening was weak everywhere.
