P.R. Shree Films Production’s Pyara Kulhad (UA) is a love story about a rich girl and a poor boy. Vidhan (Maanas Nagulapalli) is a boy who hails from a very middle-class family. Vidhi (Apsara Rani), daughter of the very rich and influential Prem Kumar (Gulshan Grover), falls head over heels in love with Vidhan. However, Prem Kumar will not allow the two love birds to unite. What happens ultimately?
The story is as old as the hills and there’s no attempt to add even a dash of novelty. M.K. Singh’s screenplay is clichéd and predictable to the core. It takes the routine path, because of which the drama completely fails to evoke any kind of emotions whatsoever in the audience’s hearts. Even the dialogues are dull.
Maanas Nagulapalli is ordinary in the role of Vidhan. Apsara Rani does an average job as Vidhi. Gulshan Grover lends routine support. His dubbing has not been done by him. Anita Sahgal is okay. Others barely pass muster.
Abhishek Chadha’s direction is weak. Vishnu Narayan’s music passes muster. Lyrics (Vishnu Narayan, Saani Aslam, Rishi Azad, Rasheed Lucknowi and Meenu Singh) are nothing to shout about. Song picturisations (Pappu Khanna and Akshay Jain) are below the mark. Background music is dull and ineffective. R.M. Swati’s camerawork is barely passable. Kinder Singh’s action and stunt scenes are average. Rajesh Dubey’s art direction is ordinary. Amit Anand’s editing leaves a lot to be desired.
On the whole, Pyara Kulhad is a box-office disaster.
