SALMAN FIRING: NBWs ISSUED AGAINST TWO ABSCONDING ACCUSED | 27 July, 2024

A special MCOCA court has issued non-bailable warrants against Anmol Bishnoi and Rohit Godara, the two absconding accused involved in the firing incident outside actor Salman Khan’s residence at Band Stand, Bandra in Bombay in the early morning hours of April 14. Two motorbike-borne men, allegedly owing allegiance to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, fired several rounds outside Salman’s home. Anmol is the Canada-based cousin of jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi.

Six accused were arrested in the case, but one of them, Anuj Thapan, allegedly committed suicide inside the police lockup on May 1. Earlier this month, the police submitted a long chargesheet against alleged shooters Vikas Gupta and Sagar Pal as well as Harpal Singh, Rafiq Choudhary and Sonu Kumar Bishnoi.

Part of the chargesheet consists of transcripts of the conversation between Anmol and Vikas Gupta over Signal app. In the conversation, Anmol tells Gupta, “…You need to fire thoughtfully and everywhere even if it takes more than a minute… It should be fired in a manner that scares Bhai (Salman)… If you smoke, keep smoking while firing so that you come across as fearless in the CCTV cameras installed in the area.” He also told Vikas that once the job was done, his name would be all over the news.
