‘SAN 84 JUSTICE?’ REVIEW | 5 November, 2021

Jitesh Kumar Films and UFI Productions’ San 84 Justice? is set against the backdrop of Indira Gandhi’s assassination in 1984 at the hands of a Sikh. Gurfateh Singh (Vipin Sharma), a Sikh, looks after his family by selling rice. He needs more money to support his family but the atmosphere all around is anti-Sikh. How will the family survive the chaos?

Sandeep Kumar Rana has written a story against the backdrop which has been seen in earlier films too. Although his story and screenplay are somewhat engaging, they move at a slow pace, inducing boredom at several places. Since the backdrop is so well-etched in people’s memories, a film like this ought to have been extremely fast-paced. His dialogues are not up to the mark.

Vipin Sharma is lovely as Gurfateh Singh. Suparna Marwah is alright as Jeet Kaur. Jitendra Rai is okay in the role of Anjan Kumar. Ashish Sahdev does a fair job as Ajit Singh. Manoj Bakshi leaves a mark as Janardhan. Neha Saini makes her presence felt as Bhumija. Rajveer Singh (as Soham Singh), Falaq Chopra (as Kartar Singh) and the others provide average support.

Sandeep Kumar Rana’s direction is very ordinary. Rohan Puntamberkar’s music is functional. Sudhir Chandra’s camerawork is quite good. Vikram Dahiya’s action and stunt scenes are effective. Art direction (Govind Gupta and Sanjay Sujitabh) is decent. J.D. Singh’s editing needed to be sharper.

On the whole, San 84 Justice? does not have commercial value.
