Film financier of yore, Srichand Hinduja, passed away today (17th May) n London. He was 87 years old and the eldest of four Hinduja brothers. He had not been keeping well since some time.
Srichand Hinduja had financed several films produced by Manmohan Desai, including Mard. He was also responsible for popularising Bollywood films in Iran by distributing them after dubbing them in Persian. Raj Kapoor starrer Sangam proved to be a runaway hit for him in Iran, prompting the Hindujas to name one of their companies as Sangam.
