At a recent press conference in Madras, Tamil film actor Mansoor Ali Khan made derogatory remarks about his Leo co-star Trisha, stating that he had expected there would be a rape scene with her in the film. Condemning his comment, Trisha posted on X (formerly Twitter) that she’d never act with him in the future.
Mansoor Ali Khan had said at the press meet, “They are not giving me villain roles. They don’t let me rape. I was very eager when I heard, I’d be acting with Trisha. I thought, there will definitely be a bedroom scene. Just like how I threw Khushboo and Roja on the bed, I can do it with her as well.”
Taking note of the issue, the South Indian Artistes’ Association asked the actor to tender an unconditional public apology. The body was considering temporarily removing him as a member of the Association until he fully regretted and sought a public apology. However, Mansoor said on 21st November that he made the comments in an attempt to be funny. He also claimed that the issue was being blown out of proportion for political reasons. He threatened to file a defamation suit against the Association.
Meanwhile, Khushboo, who is also a member of the National Commission for Women, took up the matter with the women’s body. Following a complaint by the NCW, the Madras police on 21st booked Mansoor under IPC sections 354-A (sexual harassment) and 509 (words or acts intended to outrage the modesty of women). Mansoor attended the hearing on 23rd.
