Two priest organisations in Uttarakhand have approached the police in Dehradun, demanding action against the actress after a purported video of her claiming that a temple near Badrinath was named after her surfaced online.
The groups alleged that her statement had hurt religious sentiments and caused anger among locals and pilgrimage priests. The Uttarakhand Char Dham Teerth Purohit Mahapanchayat and Brahma Kapal Teerth Purohit Panchayat Samiti submitted separate momoranda addressed to the police. They accused Urvashi of making false claims.
