Veteran actor Ravi Chopra, also known as Ratan Chopra, breathed his last in Maler Kotla (Punjab) on 12th June. He had played a role in Mome Ki Gudiya (1972). He had been battling cancer since many years.
Ravi Chopra lived in penury in Panchkula and used to survive on langar and prasad from gurudwaras. A few days before his death, he had appealed for help from actors like Dharmendra, Akshay Kumar and Sonu Sood.
Ravi Chopra (real name Abdul Jabbar Khan) got some acting offers after Mome Ki Gudiya but since his family, especially his grandmother, was not happy with his decision to act in films, he called it quits. He returned from Bombay to Punjab where he took up teaching. He was well-educated and a bachelor.
