WRITERS HONOURED AT SWA AWARDS NITE | 9 August, 2024

The Screenwriters Association (SWA) awards function on 3rd August at Land’s End, Bandra, Bombay was an event which uplifted spirits. A script is considered the backbone of every film and yet, script writers are not given the importance and respect they deserve as the film industry is star-driven. Hence an awards function to honour writers, hosted by their own Association, is perfectly in order.

The attendance at the awards show was good but could’ve been better. What saddened the heart was the absence of stars at the awards nite. One doesn’t know if the stars were invited, but if they were and still remained away from the awards function, it’s rather ungrateful of them because every star owes his stardom — at least, partly — to the script writers.

The awards were in various categories and they were given out for films, TV serials as well as web series.
