Now that cinemas in Maharashtra are permitted to reopen from 22nd October (most probably with 50% capacity only), producers are losing no time in announcing the release dates of their films. The first big film release to be announced was that of Rohit Shetty’s Sooryavanshi. With Shetty having reserved the Diwali week for his magnum opus, Aditya Chopra has laid claim over the later weeks for the slate of Yash Raj Films’ films which include Bunty Aur Babli 2, Prithviraj, Jayeshbhai Jordaar and Shamshera.
The Bunty Aur Babli sequel, starring Saif Ali Khan, Rani Mukerji, Siddhant Chaturvedi and Sharvari, and directed by Varun V. Sharma, will hit the screens on 19th November, two weeks after Sooryavanshi.
The other three films of YRF will make it to the cinemas next year, beginning with Prithviraj on 21st January. Akshay Kumar plays the title role in the film which will see Manushi Chillar debuting as his leading lady. Sanjay Dutt and Sonu Sood also star in the film directed by Dr. Chandraprakash Dwivedi. Five weeks later, on February 25, 2022, will come Ranveer Singh and Shalini Pandey starrer Jayeshbhai Jordaar which is directed by Divyang Thakkar. On March 18 next year will be released Karan Malhotra’s Shamshera, starring Ranbir Kapoor, Vaani Kapoor and Sanjay Dutt.
