Actor Dino Morea was questioned by the officers of the Bombay Economic Offences Wing (EOW) for six hours on 2nd October in connection with the investigation into a Rs. 65.50 crore Mithi river desilting scam. Stories that Morea was arrested turned out to be false. Dino had been interrogated twice last year too.
Dino Morea’s brother, Santino Rocco Morea, and Punita Kadam, wife of desilting scam case accused Ketan Kadam, were directors in UBO Ridez Pvt. Ltd. It is reported that Rs. 18 lakh was received by UBO Ridez from arrested accused Ketan Kadam.
Kadam is associated with Vodar India LLP and he was arrested in May last year for his alleged role in the desilting scam. According to the police, Vodar India and UBO Ridez, an electric cart company, operated from the same address at Worli in Bombay.
On March 20, 2024, the EOW constituted a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe allegations that the accused persons, contractors, middlemen and several officials of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation connived and caused a loss of Rs. 65.50 crore to the civic body by not desilting the Mithi river, submitting fake bills, and getting them cleared.
