FILM CITY TO GET 14 ACRES FOR OUTDOOR SHOOTINGS | 3 October, 2026

The Maharashtra state revenue department has approved the handover of approximately 14 acres of land along the Ghatkopar-Mankhurd Link Road to Film City in Bombay. The Maharashtra Chitrapat Rangabhoomi Ani Sanskrutik Vikas Mahamandal Maryadit, which runs Film City, had sought the land to set up a sub-centre with outdoor locations for film shootings as the existing 521-acre Film City at Goregaon East in Bombay had become inadequate to meet the growing demand for shooting locations. The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation’s Goregaon-Mulund Link Road project has rendered some areas (totaling about 19 acres) in Film City unusable for shooting.

The Maharashtra revenue department officials said, approximately 14 acres, or about 56,666 sq. metres of land at Mankhurd, along with some adjoining land, was available with the state cultural affairs department for outdoor shooting. The state government has approved handing over the land free of cost, without levying occupancy charges.
